Road Work Alerts: Appleton Neighborhood in Coachella, Highway 111 in La Quinta, and Washington Street in Indian Wells
Drivers in several parts of the Coachella Valley are being advised to plan ahead as major roadwork projects get underway.
In Coachella, the city has begun a pavement rehabilitation project in the Appleton neighborhood that will continue through August 22. Work hours are set from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. “No parking” signs will be posted in advance and will move throughout the affected streets as work progresses.
In La Quinta, the Highway 111 pavement project continues. Crews are currently working between Plaza La Quinta and Washington Street. From now through Wednesday, eastbound left-turn lanes to northbound Washington will be closed. Starting at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, the intersection of Highway 111 and Washington Street will be fully closed until 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 31. Detours will direct drivers to Adams Street, Dune Palms, Fred Waring Drive, Miles Avenue, or Jefferson Street as alternatives. Traffic managers stress that this will be a complete closure, so drivers should leave early and use alternate routes.
In Indian Wells, additional improvements are underway on Washington Street on the west side. Crews will add a right-turn lane near a local church, adjust the curb radius at Miles Avenue and Washington Street, and repave a section of Miles Avenue. This work may overlap with detours connected to the La Quinta project.
For real-time updates and detour maps, residents are encouraged to sign up for alerts through the CV Sync program.
