School Year Start Dates Announced for Coachella Valley Districts

Families across the Coachella Valley are getting ready for the new school year, with official start dates set for the valley’s three main districts.

Palm Springs Unified School District will be the first to welcome students back, with the school year beginning on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The district serves Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, and surrounding communities.

Desert Sands Unified School District and Coachella Valley Unified School District will follow a couple of weeks later. Both districts are set to begin classes on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Desert Sands covers areas including Palm Desert, La Quinta, and Indio, while Coachella Valley Unified serves Coachella, Thermal, Mecca, and nearby communities.

Parents are encouraged to check with their child’s school for details on orientation, supply lists, and specific bell schedules as campuses prepare for a busy start to the school year.
