Shady Fire Near Coachella Fully Contained After Burning 52 Acres
A vegetation fire that prompted evacuation orders in the Coachella Valley over the weekend has been fully contained, fire officials announced Sunday night.
The Shady Fire broke out Friday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m. near the intersection of Shady Lane and Avenue 54 in an unincorporated area north of Thermal, bordering Coachella. The blaze burned through 52 acres of heavy vegetation before firefighters brought it under control.
Riverside County Fire Department crews responded to the incident and issued evacuation orders and warnings for nearby residents as a precautionary measure. All evacuation orders and warnings have since been lifted following the fire's containment.
No injuries were reported in connection with the fire, and no property damage was documented. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
