Weekend Workout: Static Hold Leg Day with David Lyons
NBC Palm Springs is back with another Weekend Workout, and this week David Lyons focuses on building strength in the legs through static hold training. Joined by Gazala, Lyons demonstrates a three-move routine that targets the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and calves.
The first move is a static hold squat. Standing on a resistance band, Gazala lowers into a full squat and holds the position for 20 seconds. She then raises slightly, holding for 15 seconds, and once more for 10 seconds, never fully straightening her legs.
The second exercise is a rear kickback. Using a band anchored low on a door and holding onto a chair for balance, Gazala kicks back one leg, holding for 20 seconds, then 15, then 10. The sequence is immediately repeated with the other leg, working the hamstrings and glutes.
The leg workout wraps up with a calf raise. Standing on a small platform, Gazala rises to the top position and holds for 20 seconds, then lowers slightly for 15 seconds, and again just off the floor for 10 seconds.
This three-exercise circuit completes leg day for static hold training. David Lyons will return next time with arms and abs.
