Jamie Lee Curtis Criticizes Beauty Industry’s Impact on Generations of Women

Jamie Lee Curtis is speaking out about the toll that cosmetic surgery and beauty procedures have taken on generations of women.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the 66-year-old actress said she stands by her controversial use of the term “genocide” to describe the impact of what she calls the “cosmeceutical industrial complex.”

“I’ve been very vocal about the genocide of a generation of women by the cosmeceutical industrial complex,” Curtis said. “I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human appearance.”

The Academy Award winner, known for being outspoken about aging naturally, noted that the widespread use of chemicals, fillers, and surgery has led to what she calls a “disfigurement of generations of predominantly women.” She linked these pressures to social media trends, saying, “The concept that you can alter the way you look… is aided and abetted by AI, because now the filter face is what people want. Better is fake.”

Curtis also said she doesn’t judge individuals who choose cosmetic procedures, emphasizing that “once you start, you can’t stop,” but that it’s “none of my business” to criticize others for their choices.

This isn’t the first time Curtis has spoken on the issue. In 2024, she told “Today” that she accepts her natural appearance, saying, “I own what I think and feel. I say what I mean. I mean what I say. I try not to say it mean. And that’s a way then to grow into my old age.”

Her latest comments reignite the discussion around beauty standards, self-image, and aging in Hollywood.
