Riverside County Launches Mobile Service Centers to Help Parolees and Probationers
Riverside County is introducing a new program aimed at helping parolees and probationers meet their legal obligations by providing mobile service centers that can travel to those in need.
The program, operated by the county’s Department of Probation, uses vehicles about the size of an RV to create temporary service hubs. These mobile centers are designed to assist individuals who often struggle with transportation to make scheduled court dates, probation check-ins, and other appointments.
A key feature of the new service centers is their ability to host virtual hearings. Equipped with live-streaming technology, they allow homeless probationers and parolees to appear in court remotely when traveling to a courthouse isn’t possible. The vehicles also serve as private spaces for appointments and case management.
County officials say the goal is to reduce missed court appearances and improve support for those under supervision, especially for individuals facing homelessness and other barriers.
