Palm Springs HOA Offers $10,000 Reward for Stolen Roadrunner Statue

The Escena Homeowners Association in Palm Springs is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the return of a distinctive roadrunner statue stolen from their community entrance in 2023.

The sculpture, created by artist Virgil Villers, was one of three whimsical animal statues that stood at the Vista Chino Circle entrance to the Escena community. Villers was known for his playful animal caricatures. He unfortunately passed away in a Ski accident while the community was working to get a replacement with him.

The missing statue is made of resin fiber and has no scrap value. HOA representative Tim Mathias believes the distinctive piece may be sitting in someone's backyard and hopes its unique appearance will help someone recognize it.

The reward specifically requires information that leads to the statue's return in its original condition. Anyone with information about the roadrunner's whereabouts can contact Desert Resort Management at 76-346-1161.
