Road Work for New Palm Springs COD Campus Extended Through Mid-August

Desert Water Agency crews will continue installing water service for the upcoming College of the Desert Palm Springs campus through August 14, pushing the project nearly two weeks past its original timeline.

The utility work is causing ongoing lane closures along South Farrell Drive between East Baristo Road and East Tahquitz Canyon Way, plus East Baristo Road between the Palm Springs High School entrance and South Farrell Drive.

Construction runs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., with no work on weekends. While most of the project should wrap up by August 5, crews need the additional time to complete final connections.

Starting August 6, lane closures on Farrell Drive will be limited to 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to avoid disrupting morning and afternoon traffic around Palm Springs High School when students return for the new school year.

Traffic continues to flow in all directions throughout the work zone, though drivers should expect delays as lanes close in rotating sections. The city recommends avoiding the area when possible and allowing extra travel time for trips through the construction zone.
