Trump Reaffirms August 1 Tariff Deadline Will Not Be Extended

President Donald Trump is holding firm on his trade policy deadline.

In a post on Truth Social Wednesday morning, the president stated that the August 1 deadline for imposing new tariffs “will not be extended.”

The declaration comes as several nations rush to negotiate trade deals with the United States before the deadline takes effect.

Earlier this week, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick indicated that while the administration is willing to continue conversations with countries after the deadline, there will be no delay in enforcing the new trade measures.

The deadline marks the next phase of Trump’s aggressive trade agenda, which has already included new tariffs on Brazil, certain copper imports, and changes to duty-free shipping rules.
