International Beer Day Highlights Economic Impact of Craft Beer Industry
International Beer Day celebrations across the country today underscore the significant economic impact of the craft beer industry, which generated nearly $29 billion in sales and supported over 197,000 jobs in 2024.
The craft beer sector produced more than 23 million barrels last year, according to the Brewers Association, reflecting continued growth in an industry that has become a substantial economic driver in communities nationwide.
In the Coachella Valley, local establishments like the Yard House in Rancho Mirage exemplify this trend. Brett, a bartender with nearly two decades of experience, reports that beer accounts for approximately 80% of the venue's alcohol sales, highlighting the beverage's central role in the hospitality sector.
International Beer Day, founded in Santa Cruz in 2007, has evolved into a global observance with three stated objectives: celebrating beer with friends, recognizing brewing professionals, and fostering international community connections.
