Traffic Alerts: Road Work in Thousand Palms, La Quinta, and Indian Wells to Impact Drivers
Drivers in the Coachella Valley should plan for delays and detours as several road projects are set to impact major routes this week and into the fall.
Caltrans crews are conducting pavement repairs on eastbound Interstate 10 near the Monterey Avenue off-ramp in the Thousand Palms area. Alternate exits include Bob Hope Drive and Cook Street.
In La Quinta, the Highway 111 Repavement Project continues and will enter its next phase on Monday, August 4. Work will take place near the Washington Street intersection, reducing traffic to one lane and closing left-hand turn lanes in the area. Drivers are advised to use Miles Avenue and Fred Waring Drive as alternate routes.
Additionally, beginning Monday, crews will also be working on Washington Street through Indian Wells, with lane reductions that are expected to last two months. Fred Waring Drive will serve as a key alternate route, but traffic may be heavier than usual.
Officials are asking drivers to allow extra time and plan ahead for potential delays as construction continues through November.
