Rancho Mirage Community Park Courts Undergoing Major Upgrades This Month
Big upgrades are underway at Rancho Mirage Community Park, where city leaders are improving several popular sports courts. The project began earlier this month and is expected to be completed by the end of August.
The renovation plan includes resurfacing the park’s basketball, tennis, handball, and portions of the pickleball courts. These improvements are designed to enhance safety, play quality, and the overall park experience for residents.
“This is an important one for the residents that do play on the courts to have a good court surface to play on and for safety, for decent court play and for aesthetics,” said Ian Lasley, Assistant Public Works Director for the city of Rancho Mirage.
Community members say they are excited about the project. “It’s needed because we have to have a place to come to exercise and get out and enjoy each other, meet new friends, meet new people. It’s a big community and we have to support,” said one parkgoer.
Funding for the project comes from the city’s park tax fund, which is supported by local residents.
The park, already a favorite spot for pickleball, basketball, tennis, and other outdoor activities, is expected to be even more inviting when the work wraps up later this month.
