Palm Springs Public Library Closes Friday for Multi-Year Renovation
The Palm Springs Public Library will close its main branch at 300 S. Sunrise Way on Friday, August 8, beginning a renovation project expected to last until summer 2027.
Construction work is scheduled to begin August 25 and will continue for 18 to 36 months. The closure was delayed from an originally planned July shutdown due to HVAC problems at the temporary replacement facility.
Library services will resume at a temporary location in Rimrock Plaza at 4721 E. Palm Canyon Drive, opening later this month. Additional services will be available at Welwood Murray Memorial Library and the Mizell Center during the renovation period.
The temporary facility will maintain regular library hours and provide essential services throughout the construction timeline. City officials expect the renovated main library to fully reopen by summer 2027.
