Justice Department Seeks to Release Epstein-Maxwell Grand Jury Transcripts
The Justice Department has filed a court motion requesting permission to publicly release grand jury transcripts from the investigations into Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
According to court documents, the transcripts cover five days of grand jury presentations—two sessions from the Epstein grand jury and three from the Maxwell proceedings. Grand jury testimony is typically sealed under federal law, making this request part of an unusual transparency effort.
The filing represents the latest action in the Justice Department's broader initiative to make public portions of the extensive record collection gathered during the Epstein investigation. The department has amassed millions of documents related to the case.
Additional court filings are scheduled for Tuesday as the legal process continues.
The court is also receiving input from parties directly affected by the cases. Victims of Epstein and alleged co-conspirators are submitting letters to the presiding judge, expressing their positions on whether the currently sealed documents should be released to the public.
