Valley Steps Up to Support Rosa Fire Evacuees with Shelter, Discounts
As the Rosa Fire continues to burn near Anza, evacuees are heading down the mountain seeking safety, and Coachella Valley communities are stepping in to help.
In Palm Desert, three local hotels at the intersection of Highway 111 and Hospitality Lane are offering discounted rates for those impacted by the fire. Embassy Suites is providing rooms for $85 a night with a waived deposit, Holiday Inn Express is offering a 20% discount, and Best Western Plus is listing rooms at $89 plus tax.
Meanwhile, the Palm Desert Community Center has been converted into a temporary care center for evacuees. The facility offers beds, food, beverages, and Wi-Fi, along with space to regroup and connect with loved ones.
“You know, for us, community is everything,” said a city representative. “We’re founded on community, so anytime we can assist, we do. The center is here not only for recreation, but also for emergency response during fires or natural disasters.”
Support extends to pets as well. The community center is working with Riverside County Animal Services to offer shelter and assistance for animal companions. Additionally, Riverside County is actively seeking foster homes for dogs over 30 pounds.
