White House Unveils Bold Crypto Strategy, But Omits Key Bitcoin Data

This week marked a major shift in federal cryptocurrency policy with the release of a new report from the White House, aiming to cement the U.S. as the global leader in digital assets. But amid the sweeping reforms and bullish tone, one major detail was conspicuously absent.

The report, issued by the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets, outlines a comprehensive plan to boost innovation while strengthening financial oversight. It emphasizes the need for Congress to pass legislation like the Clarity Act, which would establish clearer rules for digital asset exchanges and token issuers.

One of the standout features is the report’s endorsement of stablecoins. It calls for the integration of dollar-backed stablecoins into the mainstream financial system to reinforce the U.S. dollar’s global dominance.

In addition to innovation, the strategy includes national security priorities—calling for stronger anti-money laundering efforts, heightened cybersecurity standards, and tighter collaboration between federal agencies and private companies.

According to NBC Palm Springs contributor Jimmy “Crypto” Fitz, the overall tone of the report signals an aggressive push by the federal government to lead in crypto development. Regulatory and legislative actions are expected to follow quickly.

But Fitz points out one glaring omission: the report makes no mention of how much Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies the U.S. government currently holds from confiscations and fines. That separate disclosure was due in May—and has yet to be released.

As lawmakers and regulators prepare to act on these new recommendations, the crypto world is watching closely—not just for what’s said, but what’s left unsaid.
