IID Issues Conserve Alert to Prevent Power Outages This Week

The Imperial Irrigation District (IID) has issued a conserve alert in effect now through Friday, urging all customers to reduce electricity usage to help prevent rotating power outages.

The alert targets the hours between 4 and 9 p.m., when energy demand is typically highest. IID officials say conserving electricity during these hours can make a significant difference in protecting the regional power grid.

Customers are encouraged to take simple steps like raising thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, turning off unnecessary lights and appliances, and avoiding the use of major appliances until after 9 p.m.

The conserve alert is a proactive measure to reduce the risk of outages amid increased energy demand during peak summer temperatures.
