President Trump Donates Presidential Salary to White House Renovation Projects
President Donald Trump announced he is donating his presidential salary, claiming the funds are being used to support ongoing renovations at the White House.
In a recent social media post, Trump said his first paycheck was sent to the White House Historical Association to help with what he described as “much needed” updates to the executive mansion.
The renovations reportedly include a full overhaul of the Rose Garden as well as plans to build a large new ballroom on the property. Trump emphasized that these projects are part of his broader effort to preserve and modernize the White House.
Trump also claimed he is the only president—aside from possibly George Washington—to donate his entire salary while in office. However, historical records show that former Presidents Herbert Hoover and John F. Kennedy also famously donated their presidential earnings.
The White House Historical Association, which is a private nonprofit, plays a major role in preserving the history and aesthetic integrity of the White House through fundraising and oversight of restoration projects.
