Kristin Scott Thomas Talks to Manny the Movie Guy On Her Directorial Debut “My Mother’s Wedding”

Celebrated international star Kristin Scott Thomas aims to prove that she is adept behind the camera as well as in front of.  Making her directorial debut with “My Mother’s Wedding,” Scott Thomas said she did so to preserve her memory.  Dedicating the film to her two fathers, the star, who also co-wrote the script, played the mother in the title.  And she’s about to get married.

Completing the cast as Scott Thomas’ daugthers are Scarlett Johansson as a Royal Navy captain, Sienna Miller as a famous Hollywood actress, and Emily Beecham as a nurse with her own family drama.

I spent some time with Scott Thomas to talk about her interest in making the film, working with Johansson again (they previously worked together in 1998’s “The Horse Whisperer”), the film’s autobiographical truth, and the visual creative decisions she used.

“My Mother’s Wedding” by Vertical Entertainment is being released in theaters on August 8th.
