Little Street Music Hall to Hold Final Concert Saturday

Little Street Music Hall will host its last performance Saturday, August 9th, marking the end of the Indio venue's two-year run showcasing local musical talent.

The farewell concert, titled "End of the Road," will run from 5:30 p.m. to midnight at 82-707 Miles Avenue. Multiple acts are scheduled to perform, including Avenida, Brosquitos, The Divines, Giselle Woo & The Night Owls, and Lazuli Bones, among others. A $10 suggested donation will be collected at the door.

The venue's closure comes after owners were unable to reach a leasing agreement with the City of Indio, which owns the building. According to city officials, Little Street Music Hall was offered a five-year rent-free arrangement, but the agreement would have required maintaining active business operations 12 to 16 hours daily to support daytime foot traffic.

"We just had a competing set of values," said one of the venue's owners regarding the failed negotiations when speaking with NBC Palm Springs Brett Rosen back in July.

The 300-capacity venue filled what local musicians described as a gap in Indio's music scene, providing a mid-size performance space between small clubs and large casino venues. Local music director Abie Perkins said the hall served as "a home for students to express themselves."

Area business owners expressed concern about losing the foot traffic generated by the music hall. Holger Nagel, owner of nearby Rocks and Records, said customers would often visit his store while attending shows downtown.

Little Street Music Hall opened as part of Indio's downtown revitalization efforts. The building's future use has not been determined.
