Stephen Colbert to Guest Star as Late-Night Host on CBS’s ‘Ellsbeth’

Stephen Colbert has a new role lined up — one that’s close to home. According to sources, the comedian and longtime late-night personality will guest star as a late-night host on an upcoming episode of CBS’s legal drama “Ellsbeth.”

The casting comes about a month after CBS announced the cancellation of Colbert’s “The Late Show,” which is expected to officially end next year.

“Ellsbeth,” a spinoff of the critically acclaimed series “The Good Wife,” will return for its third season this October. While the role mirrors Colbert’s own decade-long experience in late-night television, it marks a playful new gig following the news of his show’s impending end.

With a part so similar to his real-life career, Colbert might not have to spend too much time memorizing lines.
