Clear the Shelters: Playful Kitten Caitlin Among Cats Hoping for Homes in Palm Springs

As the Palm Springs Animal Shelter gears up for its Clear the Shelters event this weekend, staff are reminding the community that it’s not just the dogs who need homes — plenty of cats and kittens are waiting for adoption, too.

NBC Palm Springs met Caitlin, a four-month-old kitten described as sweet, playful, and full of personality. “She’s small for her age and not going to be a huge cat, but she’s super affectionate and purrs constantly,” said shelter staff member Cheyenne.

Cheyenne added that for homes without other pets, adopting kittens in pairs can be beneficial. “They learn from each other, get their energy out, and are less likely to pounce on your feet in the hallway,” she said. Single kittens can also thrive, especially if adopters provide a safe starter space such as a guest room or bathroom to help them adjust.

Caitlin is just one of many cats and kittens at the shelter ready to meet their future families. This weekend’s event will feature waived adoption fees, thanks to donations from community members, with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
