Extreme Heat Warning Continues as Coachella Valley Nears Record Temperatures

The Coachella Valley is in for another blistering day, with Tuesday’s high expected to hit 114 degrees—well above seasonal norms and not far from the 118-degree record set back in 1967.

The National Weather Service has extended an extreme heat warning through Wednesday evening, cautioning residents to limit strenuous outdoor activity. “If you were planning on training for that marathon tomorrow afternoon, you may want to hold off,” forecasters advised, citing continued triple-digit heat and humidity.

A ridge of high pressure is drawing in additional moisture, making conditions feel even more uncomfortable. Expect gusty winds to pick up in the afternoon and evening hours, adding another challenge for those spending time outdoors.

While temperatures will remain above 110 through Thursday, some relief is on the horizon. Starting Friday and continuing into early next week, the region is forecast to dip below seasonal averages—a welcome change after a stretch of oppressive heat.
