Joyanne Tracy: Rising Coachella Valley Theater Talent Shines On and Off Stage
Joyanne Tracy is quickly becoming one of the most versatile and recognizable talents in the Coachella Valley theater community. First catching local attention with her standout performance in the Revolution Stage Company’s Cabaret Riot, Tracy has proven she’s just as gifted behind the curtain as she is under the spotlight.
Her backstage work includes scenic painting, set design, and prop creation for both the Revolution Stage Company and Palm Canyon Theatre. Her creativity earned her a Desert Theatre League Award nomination for her prop work on Palm Canyon’s production of My Fair Lady, a project she completed alongside her partner Jackson. Known for her ingenuity, she often repurposes everyday items — even turning planters from the Dollar Tree into realistic buoys for the set of The Shark is Broken.
Tracy’s artistic talents also extend to teaching. This summer, she instructed dance at Palm Canyon Theatre’s kids camp, which welcomed more than 60 students, many of whom received scholarships through a partnership with Palm Springs Unified School District. She’ll soon share the stage with several of her young students in Palm Canyon’s upcoming production of Wonka, where she may also serve as dance captain.
While she continues to develop her own Cabaret Riot show, Tracy remains committed to both performing and creating. Whether painting a set, designing props, or delivering a moving performance, she has quickly become a vibrant and influential figure in the local arts scene.
