‘South Park’ Breaks Ratings Record With Kristi Noem-Skewering Episode

“South Park” is reaching new heights in its 27th season, setting a ratings record with an episode skewering Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

According to Paramount, last Wednesday’s episode delivered a 15.61 Nielsen share on Comedy Central, the highest since 2018 and the biggest in the show’s 28-year history. That means nearly 16% of all available cable viewers were tuned in. Across cable and the Paramount+ streaming platform, the episode drew 6.2 million viewers in its first three days of release.

The profane animated series, known for its sharp political satire, has been taking aim at President Trump, members of his administration, and conservative media figures this season. The premiere, which portrayed Trump in a relationship with Satan, garnered 5.9 million viewers in the same early window — showing that viewership is climbing as the season progresses.

Comedy Central reports that the Noem-focused episode was the most-watched telecast of the day on all of cable. The show’s ability to provoke and entertain after nearly three decades appears stronger than ever, with both longtime fans and new viewers responding to its pointed commentary.

The next new episode of “South Park” is set to premiere Wednesday, August 20.
