Halle Berry Turns 59, Claps Back at Ex’s Comments with Playful Instagram Post

Halle Berry marked her 59th birthday this week with a series of sunny vacation photos — and what many saw as a playful response to comments from her ex-husband, former professional baseball player David Justice.

In pictures shared to her verified Instagram account, the Oscar-winning actress and director appeared relaxed and happy while spending time with her family, her boyfriend and singer Van Hunt, and a chocolate birthday cake. But it was her caption that drew attention: “Phew…! cooking, cleaning and mothering.”

The post came shortly after Justice’s appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast, where he reflected on their marriage from 1993 to 1997 and suggested that, at the time, Berry didn’t cook, clean, or seem “motherly.” He said those perceptions influenced his doubts about starting a family with her.

Berry, however, is now a mother of two. She shares daughter Nahla, 17, with former partner Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo-Robert, 11, with ex-husband Olivier Martinez.

Her Instagram post sparked discussion online, with many fans praising her lighthearted way of addressing old remarks while celebrating a milestone birthday.
