An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Monday, August 18, 2025!

The Coachella Valley will see lots of sunshine this afternoon with dew points in the 40s and near-normal high temperatures close to 109°.

You can expect more of the same for your Tuesday and Wednesday.

Next, as an upper-level ridge of high pressure centers itself over Arizona, it will be in a position where it will guide monsoonal moisture over the Eastern half of Southern California.

Not only will surface temperatures and humidity rise, but so will the chance of mountain thunderstorms. As of today, it looks like the best shot of seeing a few afternoon thunderstorms around the Coachella Valley will be Friday and Saturday.

Also -- with Valley highs moving into the lower-to-middle one-teens on Thursday and Friday, an Extreme Heat Watch has been posted for a large area of the Southwest and includes all of Riverside County.
