Monday Morning Madness: Fajitas, Wine, and Really Bad Poetry!
Monday, August 18th proved to be a banner day for indulgence with not one, not two, but THREE delicious celebrations:
National Fajita Day kicked things off with sizzling appeal. Jerry reminded viewers that this beloved Tex-Mex dish is all about grilled meat, vegetables, warm tortillas, and whatever toppings your heart desires. Guacamole? Check. Salsa? Absolutely. Sour cream? Jerry's enthusiastic "Oh, yes!" says it all.
National Pinot Noir Day added some sophistication to the mix. While Jerry admitted he's no wine expert, he did share that this dry, high-acidity wine with lower tannins pairs beautifully with many dishes. Perfect timing too—Kai Beach featured a local winemaker later in the broadcast to celebrate.
National Ice Cream Pie Day rounded out the food festivities because, let's face it, who doesn't want ice cream in pie form? Jerry joked about the "low calories" in that generous slice before announcing his plans for post-fajita dessert.
When Rock Stars Can't Rhyme
But the real entertainment came with National Bad Poetry Day, which inspired Jerry's quiz questions that had everyone stumbling for answers.
First up: Which rock legend intentionally butchered rhymes in a 1972 Billboard Top 10 hit? The lyric snippet had listeners giggling: "Well, we got no class, and we got no principles, and we got no intelligence. We can't even think of a word that rhymes."
Smelly Cats and TV Fame
The second question dove into television's most memorably bad poetry, featuring a character known for gems like "Bisexuals," "Suicide," and "Sticky Shoes." The clue? A singer-songwriter-guitarist with questionable lyrical skills who sang about a certain aromatic feline.
