Sled hockey held at the Berger Foundation Iceplex

The Berger Foundation Iceplex was buzzing with excitement yesterday as more than 50 attendees gathered for a special sled hockey event hosted by SoCal Adaptive Sports.

The event welcomed participants of all ages to learn about the fast-growing adaptive sport, which brings the thrill of ice hockey to individuals with physical disabilities.

Sled hockey is played with players seated on specially designed sleds, using two sticks both to maneuver the puck and propel themselves across the ice. It's fast, competitive, and incredibly inclusive.

Mike Rosenkrantz, founder of SoCal Adaptive Sports, expressed pride in hosting the event at the Iceplex:

"We had a really good turnout," Rosenkrantz said. "We want to make sure that there are opportunities for anyone, with any ability, to be able to participate. That’s what this is about—we’re all about social inclusion."

The event marked an important step in growing adaptive sports in the region. Rosenkrantz hopes to continue expanding sled hockey and similar programs throughout the Coachella Valley.
