CVUSD Free Backpack Distribution Event for Students

The Coachella Valley Unified School District will distribute 1,500 free backpacks to students and families Tuesday evening at Desert Mirage High School.

The drive-through event will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the school located at 86150 66th Avenue in Thermal. The distribution is open to all members of the public.

The backpacks were donated by the Walter Clark Legal Group as part of back-to-school preparations for the new academic year. District officials said the donation will help provide essential school supplies to students in the community.

Families can access the school from 66th Avenue for the drive-through distribution. No advance registration or eligibility requirements have been announced for the event.

The giveaway comes as students across the Coachella Valley prepare to return to school for the 2025-26 academic year.
