DOJ to Begin Providing Epstein Files to Congress After House Subpoena

The Department of Justice says it will begin providing Congress with documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation on Friday, following a subpoena this month from House Oversight Committee Chair Rep. James Comer that set a Tuesday deadline for production.

Comer’s subpoena directed the Attorney General to produce records tied to Epstein, whose case has continued to draw scrutiny years after his death.

Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell were charged in 2019 and 2020 in connection with a sex-trafficking scheme. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 and is serving a 20-year federal sentence. Epstein was found dead in his jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial; his death was ruled a suicide.

NBC Palm Springs will update this story as documents are delivered and reviewed.
