An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Wednesday, August 20, 2025!

A large area of the Southwest is under Excessive Heat advisories this week. This includes the Coachella Valley for which an Extreme Heat Warning has been posted though Saturday as midday highs will reach the lower-to-middle one-teens each afternoon.

Although the Valley will be relatively dry today, dew points will rise from the 50s on Thursday, to the 60s on Saturday, then close to 70° by Tuesday.

We are also tracking monsoonal moisture which will begin to move over Eastern Southern California on Friday. Beginning Saturday -- and continuing through Tuesday -- there will be enough mid-level moisture to warrant thunderstorms over Coachella Valley-area mountains on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
