The Roost Review Cabaret Series Debuts at The Roost Lounge in Cathedral City

A new wave of cabaret entertainment is making its way to Cathedral City as The Roost Lounge prepares to debut its first-ever cabaret series, The Roost Review. The show premieres Wednesday, August 27, at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30.

The series was created by Jason Mannino, who was inspired by his experience with Cabaret Riot and the enthusiasm for live cabaret in the Coachella Valley. “Jeff and the team at The Roost have created such a great venue, and when the idea came up, it quickly grew into a full series,” Mannino said.

Performing in the debut is Joe Savant, who brings experience from the San Diego cabaret scene as well as local productions, including the Razzle Dazzle Review at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. Jason Mannino, who previously won a Desert Theater League Star Award for his role in Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, says cabaret offers artists a unique chance to express themselves. “It’s about doing what you want to do and bringing yourself into it, as opposed to playing a character,” Jason shared.

The opening night lineup also features local favorite Jackie Davis, a multi-Desert Theater League Star Award winner, alongside acclaimed musical director Chip Prince. Together, they will deliver a night of solos, duets, and trios centered around themes of love, joy, and the magic of summer.

The Roost Review is scheduled as a recurring monthly event, typically held on the last Wednesday of the month through the end of the year, with a slight adjustment in November for the Thanksgiving holiday. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at theroostcc.com.
