White House Launches Official TikTok Account Despite Pending Ban Deadline

The White House officially joined TikTok on Tuesday, launching an account on the social media platform even as it faces a potential nationwide ban in the United States.

The account's debut comes ahead of a September 17 deadline requiring TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app to a U.S. buyer or face prohibition from operating in American markets.

President Donald Trump has already delayed enforcement of the potential ban three times, despite ongoing bipartisan concerns in Congress about national security risks posed by the Chinese-owned platform.

The White House's inaugural post featured Trump stating "I am your voice," accompanied by a caption reading "America we are back! What's up TikTok?" The account attracted more than 20,000 followers within its first day of operation.
