Community Mourns Baby Emmanuel Haro at Candlelight Vigil After Arrests in Missing Child Case

A somber crowd gathered outside the Haro family residence Friday evening, candles flickering in the twilight, as a community came together to mourn the presumed loss of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro. Just one week ago, Emmanuel’s mother, Rebecca Haro, reported her infant son missing. Since then, the case has taken a heartbreaking turn. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department announced the arrest of both parents and confirmed they believe the child is no longer alive.

“It's very heart-wrenching,” said one tearful vigil attendee. “I’ve been crying every night. I couldn’t imagine. I’m a single mom—I know it gets hard, but there’s no reason to take it this far.”

Dozens of residents, many with young children of their own, laid candles, flowers, and stuffed animals at the family’s gate. Some prayed silently, while others spoke openly about the pain and outrage they felt.

“It makes me feel better seeing everyone come together,” said another local mother. “He may not have felt loved at home, but he was clearly loved by this community.”
