An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up!
Here's a look at a radar loop from the past hour as thunderstorms move over the Coachella Valley with light to moderate rainfall and lots of cloud-to-ground lightning.
Upper level winds are also moving at a decent pace as well. For these reasons, the Coachella Valley will see light rainfall with a low flash flooding threat as these storms move quickly to the Northwest.
If clouds continue to be thick over SoCal, this will limit daytime heating, a key ingredient to trigger thunderstorms later this afternoon.
A more typical monsoonal pattern is in the forecast for Sunday,
when cumulus clouds and storms will build across mountains. Temperatures will feel a few degrees cooler today into Sunday, with further cooling by Tuesday into the latter part of next week.
Keep in mind that monsoonal moisture will be over SoCal through Tuesday with the chance of showers and thunderstorms each day.
