An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up for Sunday, August 24, 2025!
Because monsoonal moisture is still being directed over Southern California, a few mountain thunderstorms are likely this afternoon. While mid-level steering currents will be out of the South, any storms which develop over the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains will be pushed to the North which means a few spill-over showers are possible for those Coachella Valley foothills communities.
Because clouds will begin building later this afternoon, we will have enough sunshine today to allow Valley midday temperatures to make their way to just under 110° this afternoon. But with elevated humidity, your comfort zone will suffer.
You can expect more cloud-cover with higher humidity on Monday, both which will play a role in much lower high temps for the Valley. A few orographic-lift mountain thunderstorms are likely that afternoon.
There remains the chance of a few mountain storms on Tuesday and -- with leftover upper-level moisture -- possibly Wednesday.
