Desert Jet and Desert Paws Sanctuary draw big crowd for pet adoption at Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport
Desert Jet hosted a pet adoption event earlier this afternoon in collaboration with Desert Paws Sanctuary, an organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming abandoned animals. The event ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport and drew a steady turnout of families and animal lovers.
Organizers say many of the available dogs were strays from Mecca, Thermal, North Shore and communities around the Salton Sea, where rescuers regularly respond to calls for help. Volunteers emphasized that each adoption opens space for the next animal in need, and fosters are just as crucial to the mission.
“It’s been very rewarding seeing him walk really well now and be playful with his new friends,” one Desert Paws volunteer shared, fighting back tears. “We really care about these dogs, and we want the best life for them.”
Whether attendees were ready to adopt, looking for information on fostering, or simply there for some puppy love, the atmosphere was upbeat and hopeful. Event partners thanked the community for showing up and encouraged anyone interested in adopting or fostering to reach out, noting that demand for safe, loving homes remains high across the Coachella Valley.
