Coachella Valley Military Veteran Hopes To Inspire Others During Black Business Month

A local military veteran is using Black Business Month to highlight his journey from service member to restaurant owner, hoping to inspire other African Americans to pursue entrepreneurship.

Tim Fox, along with his wife Teri, operates Foxy's Bar and Kitchen in Rancho Mirage. Fox previously served in the military before working in restaurants across the country, experiences that led him to open his own establishment.

During Black Business Month, Fox says his goal extends beyond operating a successful restaurant. He aims to encourage more African Americans to start their own businesses, addressing a significant gap in business ownership nationwide.

According to federal data, Black-owned firms have experienced growth in recent years. However, they represent only approximately 3% of all U.S. businesses and generate just 1% of total business revenue.

Fox describes his current mission as continuing to serve others while contributing to the expansion of Black-owned businesses across the country.
