Uvalde School District to Release Thousands of Withheld Emails from Robb Elementary Massacre
The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District will release thousands of emails related to the 2022 Robb Elementary School massacre after admitting they had been improperly withheld from the public.
During a recent school board meeting, a district attorney acknowledged the error, confirming that the emails would now be made available. The board had already voted weeks ago to release the records, but the delay left families and community members frustrated.
The May 2022 shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, remains the deadliest school attack in the United States in a decade. Nineteen children and two teachers were killed when a gunman opened fire inside classrooms. Hundreds of law enforcement officers were criticized for waiting outside for more than an hour before confronting the shooter, leaving victims trapped inside.
The release of the emails is expected to shed more light on what officials knew, how decisions were made, and why the response to the tragedy failed. Families of the victims, who have long demanded greater transparency, say they hope the records will bring long-awaited accountability.
