Indoor Pickleball Courts Growing Across Coachella Valley

The Coachella Valley has quickly become a hotspot for pickleball, but the triple-digit summer heat can make outdoor games a challenge. As the sport continues to surge in popularity, valley cities are getting creative, opening their community centers and gyms to provide indoor pickleball courts for year-round play.

At the Palm Desert Community Center, players say it’s not just about escaping the heat. Pickleball offers a chance to stay active, make new friends, and enjoy the social side of the game. “Pickleball players are the nicest people around, and it’s just fun,” one participant shared. “You can pick up a game at your level, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, and always find your people to play with.”

Indoor options are now available across the valley, including the Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and Indio community centers, along with the Salvation Army Davis Center in Cathedral City. The drop-in fee is just $5, making it an affordable way for locals to keep playing year-round.

With dedicated spaces, friendly competition, and a growing community, indoor pickleball is proving to be the valley’s solution to keeping the sport alive — even through the hottest months of the year.
