Pittsburgh Pup “Steeler” Crowned TSA’s Cutest Canine

The Transportation Security Administration has announced the winner of its national Top Dog Contest, and this year’s crown goes to Steeler, a 2½-year-old Labrador retriever working at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Steeler, named after the city’s football team, specializes in explosives detection and helps keep travelers safe. The playful pup secured the top spot after receiving the most social media votes, edging out nearly 100 other TSA dogs from across the country.

In the final round of voting, Steeler went head-to-head against three other canines before capturing the title of “cutest TSA canine.”

TSA officials say Steeler will be featured as the cover model for the agency’s 2026 canine calendar, which will be released in December. The calendar has become a tradition, showcasing the hardworking four-legged members of TSA’s security teams nationwide.

When he’s not working, Steeler enjoys playing fetch and indulging in his favorite treat — jumbo hot dogs.

The contest, held annually, highlights the bond between TSA’s canine units and the traveling public while offering a lighter look at the agency’s critical security role.
