Chiropractic Care for Pets Helps Ease Pain Without Drugs or Surgery

Chiropractic care isn’t just for humans—it’s helping animals, too. Pets can suffer from the same aches, pains, and spinal misalignments as people, and some owners are turning to chiropractic adjustments as a way to bring their companions relief without the use of drugs or surgery.

Kian, a towering Irish wolfhound, was often placed on medication for back issues, but his owner Karen wanted a more direct solution. That led them to Dr. Christine Kopp, who specializes in animal chiropractic. “In our world, it’s called subluxations,” Dr. Kopp explained. “That means mild misalignments of the spine. When the vertebrae is misaligned, it can affect the nerves around it, which in turn affects the whole system.”

Twelve-year-old Black Lab Zoe also benefited from treatment. After suddenly losing the use of her back legs, her owners feared the worst. But after three or four chiropractic visits, Zoe was back on her feet, now enjoying near full mobility and only requiring maintenance adjustments.

Beyond manual adjustments, Dr. Kopp incorporates cold laser therapy, which penetrates the skin to reduce inflammation and boost healing. Nutritional supplements like glucosamine and chondroitin, commonly used for human joint health, are also part of her toolkit for animals.

Her patients range from cats and dogs to horses, alpacas, donkeys, and even a kangaroo. Each case, she says, underscores how alternative care can make a real difference.

For many pet owners, chiropractic care is offering hope, healing, and a drug-free path to helping animals live more comfortable, active lives.
