Costco Enforces Early Shopping Hours for Executive Members Only

Costco’s new shopping policy officially took effect today, sparking frustration among some customers.

Back in June, the warehouse giant announced that executive members could enter stores from 9 to 10 a.m. on weekdays, an hour earlier than standard members. While the company initially offered a grace period and did not strictly enforce the change, that window has now closed.

The decision means shoppers without executive memberships must wait until after 10 a.m. to begin their shopping. Costco says the policy is intended to provide added value for its higher-tier members, who pay more annually for their benefits.

Some customers, however, are voicing concerns that the move favors those who can afford the premium membership, while alienating longtime regular members. Critics say the change undercuts Costco’s reputation as a retailer for everyone, while others argue the exclusivity is unfair during busy morning shopping hours.

Despite the pushback, Costco has confirmed that the policy is now in full effect at locations nationwide.
