House Oversight Committee Releases 33,000 Pages of Jeffrey Epstein Files

Congress is back in session following its August recess, and the House Oversight Committee has moved quickly to act on the Jeffrey Epstein case.

On Tuesday, the committee released more than 33,000 pages of documents tied to the convicted child sex offender. Republican leaders say they hope the release will help bring transparency and quiet the controversy surrounding Epstein. Many of President Donald Trump’s supporters have also pushed for more disclosure about the case.

Epstein, who was once a friend of Trump, died in 2019 while in custody. The president has said he had a falling out with Epstein years before his death.

Democrats on the Oversight Committee downplayed the new release, arguing that nearly all of the files were previously made available to the public.

The release adds another layer to the ongoing debate in Washington about Epstein’s crimes, his powerful connections, and how the case was handled before his death.
