Trump Awards Rudy Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom

President Donald Trump has awarded Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The honor is the nation’s highest civilian award.

During the ceremony, Trump called Giuliani “the greatest mayor in the history of New York City.” The recognition comes just two days after Giuliani was seriously injured in a car crash.

Giuliani rose to national prominence for his leadership following the September 11th terrorist attacks, earning praise from across the country for guiding New York City through the crisis.

In recent years, however, Giuliani has faced legal setbacks. Courts have sanctioned him for promoting false claims of fraud related to the 2020 presidential election, allegations that were repeatedly rejected by judges across multiple states.

Despite these controversies, Trump praised Giuliani’s decades of public service while presenting him with the medal.
