New Documentary Chronicles Ukrainian Nuns' Refugee Rescue Efforts

The documentary "Sisters of Ukraine" follows a convent of nuns in western Ukraine who are helping evacuate refugees to other parts of Europe. Now available for rent or purchase on major streaming platforms, the film documents the dangerous humanitarian work taking place amid active warfare.

Filmmaker Mike traveled with Spanish volunteers from Barcelona to the Ukrainian convent, where they stayed for several days before accompanying approximately 30 refugees on an overland journey back to Barcelona. The production faced significant challenges, including widespread Russian missile and drone attacks that began on their first day of filming.

"We know the minute you cross that border into Ukraine, we're a potential target," the filmmaker explained, noting that production insurance doesn't cover acts of war. The crew avoided social media posts and kept their American identity confidential for security reasons.

The convent now shelters around 650 refugees. The documentary aims to inspire viewers to support local aid organizations and volunteer efforts in their own communities.
