Coachella Valley Cities to Host 9/11 Memorial Events Next Thursday
Communities across the Coachella Valley will come together next Thursday, September 11, to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks.
In Palm Springs, residents will gather for a memorial event beginning at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast will be provided for attendees.
Indio will host another morning remembrance ceremony downtown on Miles Ave., with the groundbreaking of a new permanent 9/11 memorial in the city.
Officials say the monument will feature a 12-foot-tall steel artifact recovered from the former World Trade Center, serving as a lasting reminder of the tragedy and the nation’s resilience. The groundbreaking begins at 9 a.m.
Later that evening, the city of La Quinta will host a candlelight vigil at the Civic Center Campus. The remembrance event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., offering residents another opportunity to honor those lost and reflect on the day’s impact.
Both events are free and open to the public, with city leaders encouraging community participation.
