James Gunn Reveals Superman Sequel Title ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ Set for 2027 Release

Superman is officially set to fly back onto the big screen in 2027.

Filmmaker James Gunn revealed Wednesday that the sequel to his Superman reboot will be titled “Man of Tomorrow” and is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027. Gunn shared the news on Instagram, including artwork of Superman facing off against Lex Luthor in a super-powered suit — a clear sign that the iconic villain will once again be at the center of the story.

Gunn, who now oversees the revamped DC Cinematic Universe, both wrote and directed this year’s Superman reboot. That film was a major success, grossing more than $600 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing superhero release of the year.

In his announcement, Gunn tagged David Corenswet, who portrayed Superman, and Nicholas Hoult, who played Lex Luthor, suggesting both actors will reprise their roles in the sequel.

“Man of Tomorrow” will continue the new era of DC films as Gunn works to reshape the superhero universe for a new generation of moviegoers.
