New Documentary ‘Sisters of Ukraine’ Highlights Nuns Rescuing Refugees Amid War

A powerful new documentary is shining light on the humanitarian efforts taking place in the middle of war.

“Sisters of Ukraine” is now available to rent or buy online, including on Amazon Prime, iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, and cable pay-per-view platforms. The film follows a convent of nuns in Western Ukraine who dedicate their lives to helping refugees escape the violence of the Russian invasion.

Filmmaker Mike and his team traveled with Spanish volunteers from Barcelona into Ukraine, staying at the convent before accompanying a group of about 30 refugees across Europe. Their journey unfolded just as widespread missile and drone attacks began, underscoring the daily dangers for civilians and aid workers.

“We know that the minute you cross that border into Ukraine, we’re a potential target,” Mike explained, noting that even basic safety measures—such as avoiding social media posts—were critical to reduce risks. Despite the challenges, the documentary captures moments of resilience and hope as families find a path to safety.

The Sisters have already helped more than 650 refugees, providing shelter and a lifeline amid ongoing conflict. Beyond telling their story, the film encourages viewers to take action in their own communities by supporting aid groups and volunteer efforts.
